The Electrical Engineer is a full-time position that works closely with other members of the commercial drone department. The candidate will participate in the development of a unique prototype sUAS drone; refine electrical designs, document design, program flight controller and radio link components, 3-D manufacturing, plan test events, participate in live aircraft and sUAS testing and assist with other technically related responsibilities. The candidate will obtain a FAA Part 107 sUAS operator rating.


Responsibilities: The position will specifically be responsible for and desire experience related to the following:


  • Design sUAS electrical components
  • Create 3D models
  • Manufacture sUAS electrical components
  • Assemble sUAS prototypes
  • Integrate mechanical, electrical, power, sensor and control subsystems into a sUAS system
  • Plan and conduct laboratory, ground and flight tests of sUAS systems
  • Review and prepare engineering and technical analyses, reports, change proposals and other technical documentation
  • Apply engineering principles to investigate, analyze, plan, design, develop, implement, test or evaluate sUAS systems
  • Contribute to risk/issue identification, mitigation development and resolution coordination
  • Support production and quality assessments of pre-production and production subsystems
  • Supporting conduct of project status reviews with the customer
  • Providing input to monthly reports detailing contract activities


Skills: Candidate must be familiar with:


  • 3D modeling/CAD
  • Electrical circuit design
  • Programming microcontrollers
  • Configuration Management required attributes for the candidate include the following:
  • Detailed oriented; able to analyze, translate, correlate and implement requirements from multiple systems and customers
  • Proactive and knowledgeable individual who takes initiative to coordinate the resolution of complex integration problems

 

Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer or Robotics Engineering, preferred. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science or related field required.


Experience Requirements: Minimum of two (2) years relevant experience (including Industry, Government, or Active Duty Military experience). Prior experience with the following:

  • Effective communicator, written and verbal
  • Candidates must be creative problem solvers, innovative developers, and passionate about delivering outcomes to our customers.
  • Analyzed technical information to choose the best solution and solve problems 
  •  Program/Language/Computer experience - Knowledge in the following is desired: C/C++; C#; Java; use of GitHub; Arduino coding; programming ARM processors; Python, Fusion 360 and Linux
  • Experience with RF systems and datalinks is highly desired.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations, and Clearance Levels: This position is subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information at Top Secret level.

 

Computer Skills: Employee must be proficient in Adobe Systems, Microsoft Office Products and 3D CAD modeling. Knowledge of C/C++, Python, Fusion 360 and Linux is a plus. Employee must be able to adapt to evolving technology.
