Civil Engineer Intern - Municipal

A position as Civil Engineer Intern is an exceptional opportunity for students looking to gain experience in a municipal setting, as well as make contributions that directly impact the community. Tasks will vary from day to day and much of the work will be done throughout the City. Throughout the summer, you'll work alongside City staff and contractors to ensure quality and accuracy of projects. This is a temporary seasonal position (40 hours/week) reporting to the Senior Project Engineer.

Essential Job Functions:
Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Represent the Engineering Department as a field inspector for capital improvement projects to ensure work is performed in accordance with approved plans and specifications
  •  Assist project engineers with surveying and construction layout
  • Perform computer-aided drafting utilizing the AutoCAD program
  •  Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Applicants must be currently enrolled in a college Civil Engineering curriculum or related course work and must have a valid Illinois driver’s license.
