Design Support Specialist (Graphic design, Digital)

POSITION: Design Support Specialist
DEPARTMENT: Marketing / Communications
REPORTS TO: Creative Director

PURPOSE: The design support specialist will assist the Marketing / Communications team with the creation, editing, and production of graphic designs for print and digital communications. They will also maintain a supportive focus in proof-reading documents, helping to gather analytic information, creating online forms, and video editing efforts in support of council wide efforts to maintain our strong standing in the community, increase membership and program participation, and provide education and critical information to members, volunteers and the general public. Preferably, qualified candidates will be able to translate documents for Spanish-language audiences.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
·        Designing and editing marketing and communications materials for print and digital applications
·        Adhering to visual standards established by the Creative Director on council campaigns and initiatives to ensure consistent and effective message delivery
·        Supporting Digital Content Manager in creating graphics for social media posts and campaign toolkits
·        Proof-reading and editing all council materials that are created and/or managed by the MarComm department
·        Pulling and organizing reports/analytics from various sources
·        Supporting efforts to gather and catalog content from completed campaigns for archival storage
·        Supporting production efforts including pre-press preparations, obtaining mailing lists, and securing quotes from third party printers and vendors
·        Learning GSUSA brand guidelines and standards to project an image that is consistent and appropriate for local and national audiences
·        Participating in special and community events as a representative of the council in order to build awareness and visibility within the community as needed
·        Filling in when needed to support retail operations including being trained on POS system and help at events

 QUALIFICATIONS:
·        Bachelor’s degree in a related design field, i.e. marketing, communications, graphic design; and/or one to two years related work experience
·        Strong proof-reading skills and an understanding of grammatical and writing standards; thorough and detail-oriented
·        Ability to produce polished marketing collateral (digital and print) using design assets and complying with brand standards for a variety of annual campaigns
·        Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to make effective presentations and interact professionally with staff and volunteers at all levels of the organization
·        Experience with the Adobe Creative Cloud with a strong understanding of InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator
·        PC experience with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
·        Knowledge of general social media graphic specifications for various platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram)
·        Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with minimum supervision
·        Be motivated by independent learning and action, creative solutions, collaborative thinking, and personal accountability
·        Willingness to work a flexible schedule which includes occasional evenings and weekends
·        Knowledge and acceptance of beliefs and principles of the Girl Scout Movement; willing to register as a member of Girl Scouts of the U.S.A.
·        Photography skills a plus
·        Bilingual a plus; ability to translate English-to-Spanish in written documents a plus

Starting hourly rate: $14.00 / hour
