Trading Intern, Midwest Market

Anticipated start date: April or May 2020


SUMMARY
This front office position provides support to TEA’s RTO Trading Desk. The intern will be required to perform in a fast paced, results oriented environment where meeting deadlines is critical to the success of the business. The primary responsibility is to provide support to the RTO Desk by supporting all Trading activities and working collaboratively with other departments to ensure all transactions executed on the RTO Desk are entered, settled, and invoiced correctly. This intern will attempt to provide process improvements and provide reporting support as required.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Support of Traders: Scheduling Transactions
  • Review / Report transaction tags on OATI ETS software
  • Monitor and report transmission reservations on OASIS
  • Proactively work with RTO Traders to manage TEA’s and Client’s transmission positions
  • Provide reporting support to RTO Traders, as necessary
  • Communicate on a daily basis with other marketers to confirm delivery and duration of RTO transactions
  • Work with RTO Traders to verify accuracy of all MISO, PJM, SPP, ERCOT and other structured market transactions
Support of Real-Time Traders
  • Troubleshoot daily emails/issues experienced from real-time traders
  • Record real-time changes to Day-Ahead deals, including deal entry
  • Review real-time transaction deal entry to ensure deals are accurately entered into TEA’s deal capture system
Data Entry Verification: Accounting for all transactions in TEA's deal capture systems
  • Verify all RTO transactions within deal capture system
  • Responsible for verifying data on all check reports to ensure deal information is correctly entered
  • Accurately performs and records all RTO Day-Ahead trading functions for the RTO Members using the RTO trading tools, including generation, load, purchases, sales, tags, deal information into the portals, deal capture system, and all other RTO trading tools
  • Run various database reports to assist the staff in checking transaction status
  • Create change tickets as necessary to correct errors in the deal capture system
  • Perform all deal entry & validation for RTO Financial Traders
Other Assignments
  • Software testing, as required
  • Continue to identify and implement process improvements
  • Serves as back-up for the other RTO Support Specialists, as needed
  • Performs ad-hoc analysis as assigned by Director or Resource Specialists

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience
Working towards a Bachelor's or Master’s degree, preferably in accounting, business, engineering, finance, economics, math, statistics or related discipline from a four-year college or university.

Microsoft Office software and accessing the Internet. Experience with Microsoft Visual Basic is a plus.
