Paid Student Internship Program (PSIP)

Duties

Summary

The DCSA Paid Student Internship Program (PSIP) gives promising students the opportunity to gain marketable experience in critical technology protection and personnel vetting. Summer interns are full-time employees on a temporary appointment (period of May-August 2020). These opportunities are highly competitive; applicants must be U.S. citizens, have a strong academic record (cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale), and possess outstanding communication skills.

Responsibilities

We offer our interns interesting, challenging work in the following office:

  • DoD Insider Threat Management and Analysis Center (DITMAC)
  • Executive Director (ED)
  • Director Action Group (DAG)
  • Small Business (SB)

DITMAC evaluates emerging threats utilizing a holistic risk-based approach and oversees mitigation of potential threats across the 45 DoD Component Insider Threat Programs covering nearly 12 million personnel. In response to an ever-changing operating environment and threat landscape, DITMAC is re-engineering to better anticipate and adapt to the evolving Insider Threat Enterprise and emerging threats. Central to this effort is the increased reliance upon data and trend analysis, which will facilitate more capable information-led, asset-focused, and threat-driven approaches to identify, assess, and mitigate risk. Specific missions unique to DITMAC and in support of the entire DoD enterprise are risk analysis and mitigation, unauthorized disclosure identification and support, subject matter expertise education, enterprise-wide metrics and trend analysis, as well insider threat program management focusing on DoD Insider Threat Enterprise compliance to national standards and workforce professionalization and development. DITMAC is in a unique position to acquire data from across the DoD to provide an enterprise perspective on trends within the insider threat community. This information can be leveraged to identify best practices, trends on the emerging threats based on metrics and data, as well as for enterprise wide recommendations for systematic mitigations. When risk is identified, the next logical question is how to mitigate the risk. Preferably, we will detect risks at an early stage before damage is done to the DoD and other stakeholders.
