GRADUATE STUDENT - POWERTRAIN LAB - ANN ARBOR, MICHIGAN

Job Summary:

Join our growing team at SwRI's Ann Arbor Technical Center to help develop and test electrified, connected and high-efficiency powertrains to save fuel! We work on fast-paced projects and offer an experience that will challenge you and help develop broad propulsion expertise. Develop and apply custom product development, test systems, control system electronics and interfaces to enable research and development of state-of-the-art engines, transmissions, and hybrid vehicles. Collaborate with a dynamic team to rapidly bring concept to reality by leveraging existing designs and COTS technology. This position requires at least 10-40 hours per week; open to local or co-op students.

Education/Experience:

Must be pursuing a MS or PhD with an accredited university in Electrical Engineering or related; strong preference for research/thesis/project experience. Must have knowledge of modeling, controlling, and evaluating electric machines and inverters and be able to provide recommendations to team on related principles. Academic experience specializing in electric motors is preferred. Must have academic or internship experience in High speed 3 phase asynchronous electric motor development and control theory, power electronics theory and development, or powertrain modeling and simulation/application (considered a plus). A valid/clear driver's license is required.
