JR0023269 Software Engineering Intern (Summer 2020)

Job Description
If you have a passion for engineering quality software, we are interested in you. We are seeking a software engineer intern that will work with us as part of our team to achieve fantastic results. You will participate in full software life cycle including analysis, design, development, quality assurance and deployment or installs, integrations of new and existing applications and products. You will work in a collaborative and highly skilled Agile team that builds eCommerce solutions and we offer an invigorating blend of challenge and opportunity in a fun, fast-paced, collaborative work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in the full lifecycle of big feature development from definition, design, implementation, and testing
  • Develop, troubleshoot, and optimize new and existing code base.
  • Designing functionality that addresses business needs, while challenging assumptions, re-framing the problem, and offering alternate solutions.
  • Being a fully-engaged participant in a self-organized Agile development team.
  • Participate as a member of the scrum team in sprint planning and backlog grooming
  • Participating in technical design and code reviews
  • Actively participating on cross-functional teams that may include Architects, Developers, Q/A, and Product Management, Project Management, and Operations personnel
  • Developing and executing unit/integration tests      
 
Minimum Requirements
Experience in software development
 
Critical Skills
  • Solid understanding of Object-oriented programming concepts in Java
  • Design and development experience with web services in Java
  • Experience using collaboration tools such as JIRA, GIT, and BitBucket, or similar tools
  • Knowledge of build automation and continuous delivery pipelines
  • Knowledge or experience of a Scrum/Agile environment
  • Knowledgeable about software system testing
  • Knowledgeable about usability and user experience in solution design
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

Additional Knowledge & Skills
  • Past experience working with Java and web services/websites
  • Ability to learn and implement new technologies and processes
  • Have a desire to make a difference
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure or Google cloud a plus
