Intern - Planning & Development /Finance

Salary Disclosure:
Starting Salary: $12.00 - $15.00 hourly

Location: New Port Richey

General Description: The Planning and Development Finance Intern is a qualified student majoring in Business, Finance, or Accounting. The goal of the internship is to provide the student a meaningful internship experience in the functions and work of the divisions of the Planning and Development department.

The Planning and Development Finance intern performs a variety of duties as developed and assigned by the Director of Planning and Development, Business Managers, or other staff as determined by the Director, to include research, data collection, meeting and interacting with fiscal stakeholders, working on projects as assigned and also involved in day-to-day financial functions of the Planning and Development department.

  • EMERGENCY RESPONSE/RECOVERY ACTIVITIES: All employees will be required to work before, during, or after an Emergency. During an Emergency employees may temporarily be assigned to work and perform duties outside the normal scope of their position, location and work schedule to fit the needs of the County and its citizens. Essential Job Functions:Provide support in the collection and compiling of financial planning data.
  • Assist in research and collection of data.
  • Data entry.
  • Assist with internal audits.
  • Assist with budget planning.
  • Assist with monthly/quarterly financial reporting.
  • Analyze business processes.
  • Assist with development of business plans.
  • Assist with departmental document archiving.
  • Create/Maintain Excel spreadsheets.
  • Interact with and support staff.
  • Assist with projects that directly impact business value.
  • Answering and directing phone calls.
  • Other clerical and administrative work as appropriate.
  •  Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Direct hands on experience with MS Excel.
  • Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written and visual communication.
  • Ability to communicate effectively over the telephone, in writing, and in person to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Willingness to learn to convey technical terms and information in a user-friendly, non-technical manner.
  • Ability to work independently at times with little supervision, as well as collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Willingness to follow detailed instruction and learn about Pasco's Planning and Development business practices and processes.
  • Responsive and operates with a sense of timeliness and urgency.
  • Ability to operate a variety of office equipment to
  • include personal computer and a variety of computer software.
 Minimum Requirements:PHYSICAL SKILLS: Must be able to lift and pull at least 10 pounds. Must be able to communicate effectively using verbal, written and visual communication. 

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:  Currently enrolled as a student in an accredited program in Business, Finance, or Accounting. Previous office experience preferred.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS: Possession of a valid Driver's License.
