Community Engagement VISTA at The Bridge

Help create a tiny home community in Spartanburg to reduce homelessness among single woman and empower them towards financial stability!
This position is part of the VISTAs in the Piedmont (VIP) program sponsored by United Way of the Piedmont. As a VISTA at The Bridge at Green Street, you will continue to develop a site plan and architectural design plans for individual tiny houses specifically for the Northside and for a target population of homeless single women. You will work with the leadership to implement an approach to recovery from homelessness with the future residents of the tiny house village. You will work to develop wide-spread community support for the tiny house village and the recovery program. You will work with the Media Ministry of First Baptist Spartanburg to develop and implement a marketing campaign to promote the tiny house village. 
The VIP program offers a unique approach to VISTA service, as you will spend 10% of your time each week working collaboratively with 19 other VISTA members placed in the community to research and implement community-wide solutions focusing on either increasing access to behavioral healthcare or increasing financial stability. The VISTA member will increase the capacity of The Bridge at Green Street in the ability to offer shelter, assistance, and case management to the homeless in Spartanburg through the planning and development of a tiny house community. The VISTA will work with community partner, developers, and the city to help develop a tiny home village for single women experiencing homelessness. The VISTA will research, compile resources, build/strengthen community partnership relationships, and
develop a manual for the recovery program. The VISTA will continue to develop community support for the tiny house village and the recovery program, as well as continue to promote the tiny village through media and outreach.
