Mechanical Engineer Intern

Job Summary: Cole Engineering Services is seeking a highly motivated candidate to support hardware development activities for an emerging simulation and training capability for the US Army. The candidate will support life-cycle hardware and electronics development activities to include design, manufacturing, testing, and supply chain management.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Performs routine design, fabrication, modification and evaluation of mechanical and electro-mechanical components, sub-systems and systems.
  • Conducts routine analyses and/or tests pertaining to the development of new designs, methods, materials or processes, completes required documentation and may provide recommendations.
  • Identify, debug, and repair mechanical and electro-mechanical system issues.
  • Perform quality control activities and support manufacturing inspections/audits of primary hardware vendors.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous process improvement in supply chain management activities.
  • Implement product enhancement procedures and standards

Knowledge in any of the following areas would be considered a plus:
  • Experience with Industry best-practice software development and collaboration tools, such as JIRA and Confluence.
  • Basic knowledge in 3D design like SolidWorks or Inventor
  • Basic knowledge of fabrication processes e.g. stamping, sheet metal bending or welding
  • FEA or DFMEA classes/training/experience
  • GD&T (Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing) classes/training/experience
  • Basic knowledge of data research.

Required Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor’s or Graduate coursework in a related technical discipline such as mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, industrial engineering, computer science, information technology, systems or software engineering from an accredited college or university

Other Requirements: Please note that pursuant to a government contract, this specific position requires U. S. Citizenship status with ability to obtain a SECRET security clearance.
