Job Description
At General Motors we pride ourselves on designing, building and selling the world's best vehicles. We are seeking a new generation of visionaries to help launch bold engineering and business initiatives, and shape new directions for General Motors. As an intern or co-op student through our EXCEL (Exploring Careers through Experiential Learning) Program you will gain hands-on career specific experiences to maximize your real world potential.
Responsibilities  
Our plants are the groundwork for GM and a hotbed of innovation. We champion a spirit of innovation and creativity. Here you will be able to come to the table with fresh and new insights to help develop and implement into the plant. You will work on a variety of projects. This could include working on projects that support the development of manufacturing processes & technologies, equipment/tooling alternatives, sequence and flow of operations for the effective utilization of personnel, material, machines and facilities vital to produce parts / vehicles.  
Projects could potentially involve one or more of the following in support of new product program launches:  
  • Development of Sequence of operations  
  • Evaluation of Ergonomic / Human factors  
  • Development / validation of man-machine interface  
  • Development of Efficient material flow process  
  • Design, construction, integration, plant installation, successful launch and continuous improvement of equipment and tools.  
  • Development and testing of advanced process technology  
Additional Job Description
Qualifications  
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering , Controls Engineering, Mechatronics
  • Must have a minimum of a 3.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale 
  • Able to work fulltime, 40 hours per week

  • Demonstrated leadership in field of study, extracurricular activities or service organizations  
  • Able to work independently and with a team  
  • Outstanding interpersonal and relationship management skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with varying levels of the organization as needed  
  • Oral and written communication skills with the ability to distill complex subjects to a wider audience 
  • Emerging partnership and teamwork skills and ability to learn from and share knowledge with co-workers in a fast-paced environment  
  • High level of integrity, ability to deal with ambiguity, take initiative/self-directed  
  • Evidence of strong character with integrity, honesty, accountability and trust  

 
There may be opportunities for assignments at one of our manufacturing facilities.
