R&D Engineering Intern

A growing medical device company is looking for a R&D Engineering Intern to join our R&D Department at our Pembroke Pines location.

Engineering Intern Job Description:
  • Execute medical device testing protocols, document results using good documentation practices, and statistically analyze results using Minitab.
  • Participate in and contribute to the design and development of new medical devices based on testing and data analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with design criteria and standards
  • Test, evaluate and analyze systems and test methods.
  • Create, execute, analyze, and report engineering evaluations to contribute to designs and continuous improvement.
  • Generate or edit existing CAD drawings

The Engineering Intern will primarily support the R&D Staff, but may be given tasks by Quality, Regulatory, and Manufacturing, as required. This position may require some travel to our Sunrise or Miramar facilities and must possess the ability to lift light loads (10-25lbs).

Education and Experience:
  • 1-2 years of work or internship experience in a medical device engineering role preferred, but not required.
  • Completion of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in an Engineering program: Biomedical focus preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to display a proficiency in measurement systems, including: calipers, rulers, laser micrometers, pin gages, & force gages.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and translate drawing dimensions to measurable outputs.
  • Ability to create test fixtures and equipment using Solidworks 3D modeling and desktop additive manufacturing equipment.
  • Proficiency in mathematical software tools (e.g. Minitab, SPSS, R, JMP, Matlab, etc.) and Microsoft Office Suite (especially MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint)
  • Good written, oral, presentations, and communication skills
  • Ability to work both as a team member and individually as needed
  • Follow training guidelines
  • Must have legal authorization to work in the United States
