Governor Control Systems, Inc., has a vacancy in Fort Lauderdale, FL for a Service Engineer to support/lead the commissioning and service of control systems for power generation and propulsion control systems driven by prime movers (steam/gas/hydro turbines and diesel). 

Service Engineer

Summary: Reporting to the Service Manager, you will be responsible for the troubleshooting, offering solutions and rectify customer problems on products supported by GCS on turbines and engines, be that power generation or propulsion systems. You will be expected to support all other groups in GCS within reason as required. GCS is a service driven company, we must respond to our cusomers needs in a timely and efective manner and, as such, there may be times when urgent travel, and/or technical support is required. 
 
Essential Duties:
  • Field Service and technical support by phone

  • Field support as required on actuators and electronic Governors, AVR’s and Power-Management controls

  • Field Support as required on HMI / SCADA programming (e.g. AStudio, Indusoft, IFix, Citect, Wonderware, RSView)

  • Technical application support for inside and outside sales

  • Calibration of actuators and governors

  • Assist in building and testing electrical cabinets for GCS engineered systems

  • PLC Programming (e.g. RSLogix 5000, Step 7, GE Fanuc, GAP)
  • Provide standard and customized training at GCS as well as on customer site
  • Update GCS mechanical-, layout- and electrical drawings plus manuals and other documentation to “as-built” status after completion of commissioning of a project and archive according to GCS standard procedures
 
 Position Requirements:
  • Bachelor degree in electrical engineering or equivelent and 3 years relevant work experience or diploma and 8 years relevant work experience in power generation, industrial automation or related industry.
  • Valid US Driving Licence
  • Valid Passport
  • Indepth Knowledge of Woodward controls, EGCP’s, GCP, MFR, easYgen, LS4 & 5 and DSLC/MSLC’s
  • PLC programming experience, Woodward GAP, GE Fanuc
  • HMI / SCADA programming experience of any, AStudio, IFix, Citect, Wonderware, RSView
  • AVR configuring experience, Basler DECS, ABB Unitrol,
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office business software, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Digital networks and communications experience
  • Demonstrated self starting ability
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (in english a must, spanish would be a plus)
  • Customer oriented with good interpersonal skills
  • Willing and able to travel, domestically and internationally (Travel approx 60% of time
