SENIOR DESIGN PROJECT MANAGER

 Performs advanced engineering work and/or design in the District Structures Maintenance section. Performs project management including research, documentation, design, field investigations, estimate preparations, project development, contract administration and construction support. Reviews, signs and seals contract documents for in-house structures repair or rehabilitation projects.
 
 Assists the Engineering section manager in collecting and evaluating work needs and programming bridge and other structures rehab and replacement projects in the Work Program. Maintains the Bridge Work Plan (BWP) for local and State bridges. Participates in Feasible Action Review Committee (FARC) meetings. Performs inspections of structures, which involves visual examination of all bridge members. Documents findings and recommends corrective action for deficiencies, including computation of quantities and costs.
 
Oversees contracts including tracking performance. Assists in the selection of consultants for new contracts. Performs plan reviews and design/build project reviews and tracking. Attends pre-construction conferences, progress, partnering, and design team meetings as required. Reviews shop drawings. Provides construction support on structure related issues. Assists and oversees bridge repairs by in-house personnel and contractors. Assists in emergency response activities.
 
Oversees all efforts in archiving and retrieval of bridge plans and other related documents using the Electronic Document Management System (EDMS). Receives public/exempt document requests and coordinates response with Records Management Liaison. 
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of: Team concepts and principles; bridge design and construction; engineering principles and practice; Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) safety rules and regulations; FDOT/Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) bridge inspection regulations; Microstation/Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD). Skill in: Using engineering tools and equipment; Recognizing and identifying structural deficiencies; Oral and Written communication; Motivating self and others. Ability to: Work independently and make decisions; Establish and maintain effective working relationships; Demonstrate a high level of interpersonal skills; Demonstrate initiative in completing own tasks; Delegate tasks; Problem solve; Plan and organize work.
 
REQUIRED LICENSURE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION: Registered as a Professional Engineer in accordance with the Florida Statute 471.
 
OTHER JOB RELATED REQUIREMENTS: The incumbent of this position will at times be required to work during weekends, nights, or holidays due to emergency conditions; overnight travel may be required for statewide meetings, training, conferences or seminars.
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Registered as a Professional Engineer in accordance with the Florida Statute 471 and one year of post-registration experience.
