Product Engineer

Lenovo’s ThinkPad Product Engineering team is currently recruiting a Computer/Electrical/Mechanical Engineer with a passion for working on PC platforms (x86). In this exciting position you will be part of our Customer Quality team responsible for helping our largest customers most effectively deploy, use, and debug our industry-leading ThinkPad Notebook PCs, Accessories, & Smart IoT devices. You should have some experience with PC architecture, system software, and general PC troubleshooting.

As a Product Engineer you will use your problem solving skills as well as analytical abilities to unravel complex issues in a diverse environment of systems from multiple vendors, and then quickly develop a solution for the customer.

As a member of the ThinkPad & Accessories Customer Quality Engineering team, you will have the opportunity to work with customers as well as a highly motivated and diverse team of engineers and suppliers. You will assist with multiple customer issues at one time starting with recreation of the issue, root cause analysis, development of a solution, and deployment of that solution. After solving the customer issue, you will then help drive improvements into the next generation of products through our Development organization and the Lessons Learned process.

In addition to working customer issues, you will have the opportunity of being the voice of the customer during the development phase of future products.

This is an excellent opportunity to work with global development teams and customers, so effective communication is critical. You should also have strong initiative, spirit, and a desire for tackling challenges.


Position Requirements:
- Familiarity with PC architecture. This familiarity should include PC BIOS (UEFI), Device Drivers, and Windows OS concepts
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally. (This role requires working with a worldwide, cross organizational team)
- Ability to work hours required to resolve customer issues
- Have the ability to team with others (local & virtual), and to adapt in a fast paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related
It would be a plus if you:
- Had a Masters degree or higher education
- Experience with C# or Java, but any other previous programming experience is a plus
- Familiarity with IoT solutions relating to sensors, cloud connectivity, AI (Artificial Intelligence), Machine Learning, and physical device communication
- Linux OS & debug skills (this role is primarily Windows based, so this skill is a plus)
- Ability to understand complex systems and multi-faceted problems
- Product Development experience (HW or SW)
- Customer facing/service experience
- Chinese Language Skills would be helpful in this role, but not required
