Mechanical Design Engineer I

Description

The Mechanical Design Engineer I provides technical solutions for the design and development of Raydon products, primarily, virtual-reality training, simulation, and amusement devices and equipment. The Engineer supports the entire product development lifecycle. The Engineer analyzes requirements, develops work plans, creates designs, documents designs using CAD analysis, modeling and drafting software tools.
The ideal candidate will enjoy working in a fast paced, collaborative, team environment and be capable of solving complex problems to meet project and product requirements.
Typical Duties include but are not limited to the following.
  • Analyzing requirements
  • Developing concepts at the subsystem, assembly, subassembly, and component levels
  • Modifying, designing, reviewing, and documenting concepts, subsystems, assemblies, components
  • Documenting and modifying designs for manufacturing, quality assurance, logistics & procurement purposes
  • Supporting work products and documentation through manufacturing, procurement, assembly, integration, test, and fielding
  • Performing engineering analyses in support of designs
  • Developing 3-D models and drawings of HW items and defining procurement packages.
  • Reporting status on and meeting cost and schedule targets
  • Supporting department and company goals, needs, and processes
  • Developing work plans
  • Evaluating prototypes
  • Ensuring development activities are compliant with applicable standards
  • Performing Source data collection and definition
  • Performing trade studies
  • Supporting costing and schedule preparation
  • Developing proposal inputs
  • Ensuring commonality among products
  • Developing schedules and cost plans
  • Creating HW Development Plans
Minimum Qualifications:
  • BSME, BSMET, or equivalent degree
  • 3 years’ experience as Mechanical Design Engineer
  • Demonstrated project reporting & assessment skills.
  • Ability to design and document solutions with CAD tools
  • Possess hands-on prototyping and troubleshooting experience for mechanical and/or electrical/mechanical products.
  • Strong analytic and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills to communicate information effectively to others.
  • Strong quality orientation and customer focus.
  • Ability to develop innovative solutions.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, cross-functional environment
Candidates must be U.S. Persons as defined in the ITAR, 22 CFR 120.15 (U.S. Citizenship or Resident Alien Status) and as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1101(a) (20).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience designing virtual reality simulation or amusement systems
  • Experience designing to DOD requirements
  • Thorough understanding of Inventor
