Studio Designer- Marketing, Lakeland

The purpose of this position is to manage the successful design execution of projects consistent with provided concepts and brand standards for a variety of print and digital creative materials (e.g., ads, brochures, posters, packaging, signs, logos, etc.) and meet provided specifications. Areas of work may include advertising communications, branding, graphics, packaging and environmental design. Responsible for producing established design solutions, resizing existing art or pulling existing files and preparing for reprint. Also responsible for reviewing and approving printer's proofs.

  • Responsible for the design execution of projects, maintaining creative standards set forth by the Creative teams. 
  • Responsible for repurposing established design solutions, resizing existing art or pulling existing files and preparing for reprint.
  • Responsible for photo retouching and compositing of files provided by Creative Teams. 
  • Responsible for preparing mechanicals and supporting art files for printing, delivery and archiving.
  • Responsible for review of printer’s proof.
  • Responsible for managing workload. 
  • Responsible for dedicating time to Marketing innovation and quality improvement.  
  • Responsible for working on special Creative Services related assignments, which include but are not limited to:
  • Executing presentations for Creative leadership.
  • Preparing elements for Marketing initiatives.

Required Qualifications:
  • Associate’s Degree in a graphics field or equivalent experience,
  • knowledge of Marketing department workflow processes and project lifecycles,
  • knowledge of the design process,
  • knowledge of 4-color process, pre-press, image retouching and print industry technology (offset, flexographic, digital and screen). Knowledge of design execution of static graphic images to be repurposed for the web (Publix.com, Facebook, etc.). Proficient and technically sound in all industry standard design software applications: Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Keynote and Acrobat. PowerPoint, Word, Excel is a plus. In-depth knowledge of the printing process and file preparation,
  • ability to manage multiple projects at the same time,
  • skilled in all phases of graphics “mechanical” production,
  • skilled in typography, layout and composition,
  • ability to evaluate design execution for effectiveness against established creative concepts and brand standards,
  • skilled in executing design for a variety of visual elements (ads, brochures, posters, packaging, signs, logos, etc.), including static graphic images to be re-purposed for the web (Publix.com, Facebook, etc.). Also skilled in digital design production for web, mobile and app based tactics,
  • skilled in reviewing digital and printer’s proofs,
  • passion for delivering great work and meaningful results,
  • computer skills including Mac OS, Adobe Creative Suite, Keynote and Microsoft Office,
  • effective collaboration skills,
  • willingness to be flexible and work late and/or work weekends, and
  • willingness to travel as necessary sometimes including overnight stay.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor Degree in Graphic Design,
  • 1 to 2 years of Studio Designer or equivalent experience,
  • Knowledge of department and company organizational structure including roles and responsibilities of key associates,
  • Knowledge of corporate and Marketing guidelines, policies and procedures,
  • Knowledge of corporate improvement programs currently in place (QIP, WIN, etc.), and
  • Knowledge of the Publix Mission and Vision.

Minimum Base Pay:
23.65

Maximum Base Pay:
32.65

Potential Annual Base Pay:
49,192 - 67,912

Year End Bonus:
To reward associates for their contributions to the company for the calendar year, Publix provides a Holiday Bonus in November. In the first year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to 15 hours of pay, and in the second year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to one week’s pay if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check. In subsequent years, the bonus is equal to two weeks’ pay.
