Packaging Engineering Intern

Packaging Interns support our efforts to ensure that the LEAN program is successfully implemented within our network of sites offering packaging/value added services and solutions, while also participating in a formalized Summer Internship Program. The goal of the program is to enhance student’s business acumen through continuous learning and networking opportunities. Interns have the opportunity to participate in a series of webinars that focus on professional networking, communication and presentation skills throughout the summer. They also have the opportunity to collaborate with other interns across the U.S. and Canada on a capstone project that focuses on improving various aspects of our business for our customers. This capstone project is presented to leadership at the Intern Capstone Event, which is hosted at the end of each summer in our Americas Support Center in Westerville, Ohio. This is also an opportunity for interns to network with one another and with business leaders across all regions and business segments within the organization. Those who successfully complete the program will be considered for full time roles.
Interns will participate in various projects beyond the Capstone that could include:
• Business process designs
• Capital project evaluation & implementation
• Project pricing & time studies
• LEAN kaizen events & training
• Data analysis to identify opportunities
• Support operational startups
• Actively participate in supplier RFP’s, business reviews, or evaluations
• Recommend materials & inventory management improvements to drive business results
• Assist management with ongoing project work
The intern is expected to:
• Provide insightful data-based recommendations to improve supply chain performance
• Gain valuable practice to brief and interact with DHL executives
• Help implement good ideas and realize better operational execution
• Improve Key Performance Indicators that drive desired business results (speed to market, supply chain resilience, flexibility, reduced total supply chain costs, etc.)
