Advanced Manufacturing Engineer

The Saint-Gobain OmniSeal Solutions' Advanced Manufacturing group transforms plant operations within the company resulting in differentiated internal and external value. The group identifies new or underutilized technologies and applies them to both new and existing business opportunities. This is inclusive of, but not limited to, custom automation, robotic cells, digital transformation & manufacturing 4.0, and customized solutions to molding, machining, and additive manufacturing processes.
The Advanced Manufacturing Sr. Engineer plays a key role in deploying and completing projects worldwide. This role is responsible for complete ownership of improvement projects including ideation, financial & strategic proposals for funding projects, partnering with third parties to execute projects, working with plants to implement projects, and final handoff to the plants inclusive of a sustainability plan for retaining the gains as envisioned.
This role requires a high working knowledge of newly available and underutilized manufacturing technologies and an ability to conceptualize the future effects of such technologies on a plant. This role requires strategic visioning and financial discipline with the aim of ensuring that the best projects are identified and invested in.
While there will be some involvement in existing business (~20%), this role is heavily focused on enabling Saint-Gobain to be market leaders in new business (~80%). This requires an anticipation of customer needs and thus requires high collaboration with plant and commercial team leadership. 

Essential functions include but are not limited to:
 
  • Ideation, financial modeling, proposal creation, investment selection, and group buy in.
  • Technological awareness and plant process learning.
  • Execution of projects.
  • Sustainability and support of projects.
  • Business continuity planning between manufacturing sites.
 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technical related field 
  • Post-Graduate (Masters or PhD) in Engineering or Technical related field is preferred
  • 4+ years' experience in developing and/or implementing advanced manufacturing technology (post-graduate work accepted)  
  • 1+ years' experience working in a manufacturing environment 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Self-motivated and ability to work with minimal supervision
  • World Class Manufacturing (WCM) or LEAN principles
  • Project Management experience
  • Experience with financial investment analysis
  • Awareness of cutting edge manufacturing technology and best-in-class practice
