Infrastructure Consulting & Engineering, PLLC (ICE) is currently seeking a full-time Transportation Technician Trainee to join our team in the Fayetteville, NC office to support the CE&I team with testing and inspections of soil, concrete, and/or asphalt materials. A high school diploma and six (6) months of experience or an Associates or BS in Civil Engineering is required for this position. Candidates must have a valid motor vehicle operator's license and pass a background check and drug test. Only direct candidates need apply. Job Responsibilities: 
This position is responsible for monitoring and inspecting highway construction to ensure compliance with safety, plans, specifications, and other contract requirements. Position will perform engineering inspections activities such as construction observation of concrete, asphalt, soils, aggregate, and masonry mortar/grout construction for compliance with ASTM, AASHTO, SCDOT, and/or project specifications. Conduct and record daily construction record-keeping as well as perform traffic and erosion control inspections as applicable. Interact and communicate effectively with colleagues and client representatives. Sample and test construction materials to ensure they meet quality requirements of the project specifications. Verify calibration of field and laboratory equipment to industry codes and standards. Prepare sample information for submittal to our ASHTO Accredited Lab. This is a full-time position that requires working outdoors in varying weather conditions with some night and weekend work required as needed. Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
 
Minimum and Additional Requirements:
  • High school diploma/GED required/Associates or BS in Civil Engineering preferred
  • Experience with testing/inspections of soil, concrete and/or asphalt materials preferred
  • Must have math calculation skills and MS Office experience
  • Strong written and communication skills required
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds sometimes on a frequent basis
  • Current driver’s license with good 3-year driving record is required
  • Must pass background check and drug test
  • Must be a US Resident or have a Green Card to be considered for this role
 
Physical Demands:
  • Hand and eye coordination adequate for computer data entry
  • Must be able to work on a computer for up to 8 hours a day
  • Ability to travel and tour work sites on occasion
 
Expected Hours of Work:
  • This position will be a full-time position (Must work 30-40 hours per week to be considered full-time)
  • Full-time hourly employees may be approved for overtime at time and a half the hourly wage
  • Work schedule is Monday through Friday with some night and weekend work as needed
