Development Engineering Co-op

We are looking for a spring, single or double term co-op or intern.
Summary/Objective
The Accelus Engineering CoOp position is meant to prepare the candidate for the start of their professional career. The candidate is trained by, and works side by side, with Medical Device design engineers developing new Medical Device systems.  This is a hands-on position that will be actively a part of the team and will contribute to the design, development, test and delivery of medical products. Accelus is a fast-growing market leader in the development of Spinal Implants, Robotics and advanced medical technologies. Candidates will learn how corporate business is conducted from product ideation, through design, build, test, sale and support. At Accelus quality is designed into products so candidates will learn about designing for customer needs, reliability, serviceability and maintenance. Work outputs includes; creating and updating engineering sketches, specifications, and related data to achieve design goals, and updating design controls, procedures, and other documentation as required.
 
Essential Functions

  1. Work within a team to create medical device products.
  2. Analyzes engineering sketches, specifications, and related data and drawings to determine design factors such as size, shape, and arrangement of parts.
  3. Uses computer assisted design/drafting equipment and software to develop designs.
  4. Update designs, procedures, and other documentation as required to support the team.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities at this time.
 
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time; reach for tools and objects with hands and arms; climb stairs; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. The employee must be able to see up close and at a distance, as well as use peripheral vision and depth perception, and be able to look at, read, and use a computer for long periods of time.
 
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
The expected hour and duration of the work may vary from time to time based on the specific role and candidate. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
 
Travel
No travel is expected for this position.
 
Education and Experience
1. Current student working towards a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or equivalent.
2. Computer Assisted Design (CAD) experience is preferred
