Engineering Manager - Frontend
SageSure is looking for an Engineering Manager for our Agent Portal squad to help reshape how home and small business insurance is purchased in high-risk, coastal areas. You’ll lead the squad of mainly React-based frontend engineers in developing a market-leading buying experience via our insurance agent marketplace and API integration partners. You will join as a leader in an engineering organization where we're passionate about building, shipping, learning and improving.

What you'll be doing:
- Build, lead, and grow a remote-native, high-performance team of engineers that consistently releases quality software to our customers.
- You will work closely with Product Managers, Senior Engineers, QA and your Engineering Manager peers. This includes identifying requirements, setting priorities and communicating status.
- For your direct team:
- Lead and be accountable to the Agent Portal team of approximately 5 engineers.
- Set clear expectations and be proactive in identifying and clearing roadblocks for the team.
- Coach and mentor by giving regular, honest and constructive feedback
- Contribute to their career development, setting goals to ensure growth and engagement.
- Your primary focus is delivering via your team, but technical skills are always valued and your contributions may include design, documentation, code reviews, and triaging.
We're looking for someone who has:
- Experience as an Engineering Manager or Team Lead , with the ability to build a team, develop people, and influence cross-functional teams.
- Prior experience as a software engineer who understands and practices agile software development. We use React, and knowledge of that framework, or foundational knowledge of web technologies (JavaScript, CSS, HTML) will be useful in this role
- The ability to encourage a culture of safety, trust and transparency.
- The verbal skills to spark debate, solicit input, and share those ideas in verbal and written forms.
- Experience developing a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Highly preferred candidates also have experience with:
- Experience in Insurtech or Fintech environments.
