Systems Engineering Technician I
Provides hands-on technical support for Contec computer platforms in the design and product development phases. Serves as an Engineering Project Team resource to build, test and document computer configurations under the direction of Engineering Project Managers. Produces and maintains engineering documentation in compliance with Contec's ISO 9001/ISO 13485 quality system. Support all technical aspects, troubleshooting and problem resolution of new design and development projects.
Summary of Responsibilities
- Provides direct support of Engineering Project Teams to build, configure, test and document computer platforms in the design and product development phases
- Leads other technicians to provide instruction and guidance on technical activities
- Troubleshoot, resolve and repair failed systems during product development
- Create and execute test plans for computer platforms under the direction of Engineering Project Managers
- Develop work instructions and engineering notes for new product builds to clearly document the build and test process
- Work within a defined Scope of Work plan and identifies when activities are beyond defined scope
- Work from engineering project plans to guide and schedule activities
- Load and configure operating system and application software. Create and maintain software images for specific hardware configurations
- Support Manufacturing Engineering for technical issues requiring design/development engineering support
- Support Manufacturing Engineering in the development of production test scripts and configurations for Manufacturing Test Automation
- Self-monitors project performance and budget against specific goals
- Remains abreast of current developments and innovations related to computer hardware and software technologies.
- Works closely with quality in identifying non-conformances and recommending changes and improvements.

Education & Experience
Associate degree (A.S.) from College or university in Engineering, Computer / Network Engineering or related field and 1+ years’ experience; or greater than five years of related experience and /or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Five years of manufacturing experience in hardware/software systems integration and detailed systems-level diagnostics/troubleshooting desired. Experienced with Linux / Microsoft operating systems expertise (Microsoft technical certifications preferred). Experienced in the production and maintenance of detailed technical documentation following engineering change control practices. Experienced in working in an ISO 9000 work environment. Must possess excellent communication and team skills and the ability and training to work with Customers and a variety of departments. Work towards a certified continuing education program in engineering related fields.
