Civil/Structural Engineer

AB Plus Engineering & Restoration is a growing multi-discipline engineering consulting firm seeking an Engineer with a background in civil/structural engineering to work in Florida. Our company is currently focused on engineering inspections for property insurance claims; building facade evaluations, restoration inspections, and construction management for low and high-rise buildings; and design. Our services provide solutions for the engineering needs of insurance carriers, building owners, property managers, developers, and construction law firms.

In this position you will perform field inspections, walkthroughs in high-rise buildings, inspect residential properties, access roof, attics and eventual crawl spaces, communicate directly with property managers, contractors, building/property owners, attorneys, and other clients, compile construction documents, assist on and/or manage construction projects, and write inspection forms, forensic reports, and other documents required in the practice.

Compensation is offered in a case-by-case basis, depending on experience, education, and accomplishments, and is intended to be competitive for a Civil Engineer working in the state of Florida, United States.

Qualifications, skills and required experience.
· Good report writing skills with the ability to develop and commit to budgets, scopes, and deadlines.
· Must be able to perform professionally, ethically, while meeting deadlines and production expectations.
· Working knowledge of construction equipment and techniques, building materials, Florida Building Code and construction related standards.
· Ability to work both in a team and independently with good judgment and critical thinking skills and time management.
· Exceptional customer service and leadership skills.
· Strong verbal skills with the ability to communicate effectively.
· Able to manage several projects simultaneously.
· Physical ability to perform all of the following functions:
o Climb ladders, walk on roofs, enter and work in confined/dark spaces.
o Work outdoors in hot or cold weather.
o Access elevated locations using ladders, scaffolding, and mechanical lifts.
o Lift up to 50 pounds.
o Use necessary safety equipment.
· Must be eligible to work in the United States.
· Must have a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities
· Conduct field investigations and analyze failures involving all types of structures and construction problems including residential, commercial and industrial properties.
· Assignments may include wind vs surge determinations, construction defect evaluations, hail damage evaluations, water damage/intrusion evaluations, flood damage assessments, foundation settlement investigations, structural assessments, exterior building façade/envelope evaluations from a swing stage, roof evaluations, building system reviews, site evaluations.
· Perform field inspections, walkthroughs in high-rise buildings, inspect residential properties, access roof, attics and eventual crawl spaces, communicate directly with property managers, contractors, building/property owners, attorneys, and other clients, compile construction documents, assist on and/or manage construction projects, and write inspection forms, forensic reports, and other documents required in the practice.
· Research codes, product manufacturer’s information and industry standards to assist in engineering evaluations.
· Coordinate with subcontractors and laboratories for various projects.
· Prepare and participate in professional presentations.
· Prepare for and participate in marketing activities.
