Job Summary
Trane has an exciting opportunity to join our organization as an Energy Engineer COOP. In this position, you will work with your assigned mentor to accomplish established objectives and goals that support the business and offer learning opportunities. You will have the opportunity to work with our energy engineering team to assist and grow in a variety of areas, including: energy analysis projects, utility rate analysis, field energy audits, client interviews/consultations, and development of energy conversation measures, and project management. Trane focuses on solutions that provide our customers with the most energy efficient buildings. 

Our structured 12-week program will challenge and develop your technical, business, leadership and communication skills. It will give you insight into an Energy Engineering career with Trane and create the opportunity to join our best-in-class, full-time Energy Engineer in training development program upon graduation for those who mutually agree to pursue a career in Energy Engineering at Trane Technologies. 
As an Energy Engineer Intern, you may experience or gain exposure to:
  • Partnering with Account Managers and Energy Engineers to diagnose energy opportunities with customer’s facilities and provide small energy projects that solve customer issues/opportunities.
  • Collaborating with Energy Engineers to document value added to the customer.
  • Providing technical analysis/review for energy projects; providing project risk assessment. 
  • Performing building “walk-throughs” and identifying energy conservation measures (architectural, mechanical, electrical, etc.) in commercial, institutional and industrial facilities.
  • Helping transition old ways of doing work into new digital tool sets.
  • Learning and assisting with measurement and verification of guaranteed energy savings reporting that complies with International Measurement and Verification Professional standards.
  • Analyzing data outputs for trends and/or any deviations that need further investigating. 
  • Assisting with opportunity technical qualification including Preliminary Audits, Benchmarking, Site Surveys, and Interviews.
  • Collecting and analyzing benchmark and develop summary reports as necessary to illustrate the pertinent details of building and/or system performance. 

Qualifications:
  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferred disciplines: Energy, Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical. Ideally in sophmore status.
  • Ability to start January 2022
  • Be a U.S. citizen or have the legal right to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations including, but not limited to: 
  • DUI in the previous 5 years 
  • Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless / Careless Driving or multiple smaller infractions or preventable collisions in the previous 3 years.
