Robotic Applications Engineer

Serpa Packaging Solutions is seeking a dynamic Robotics Application Engineer to join our Team! As an Application Engineer, you will work with our Sales and Engineering teams to develop customer project concepts and provide technical product support by configuring Serpa’s end of line packaging solutions to meet customer requirements.
 JOB DUTIES:
  • Review customer Request for Proposal’s, drawings, control documentation and other applicable specifications to determine requirements and/or feasibility of a given design or project.
  • Participate in the new project evaluation process by developing a concept, gathering cost data from historical records for pricing purposes, and make recommendations on proceeding or declining a project based on a risk/benefit analysis.
  • Liaise with management, sales and engineering during concept development.
  • Prepare preliminary design proposal(s) including concept layout drawings using AutoCAD and prepare proposal documentation in conjunction with the sales team.
  • Field calls/emails from other ProMach Brands for proposal requests, and manage the proposal process, bringing in sales, management, engineering as needed.
  • Interact with customers for the purpose of defining scope, obtaining specifications pertinent to the project and clarifying questions they may have with the proposal if necessary, in conjunction with sales staff.
  • Assist in determining most efficient path forward for proposals by estimating time to complete layout, proposal, and proposal review based on projected time to receive vendor quotes, and availability of Applications Engineers.
  • Interact with vendors concerning part and/or assembly quotations required for the system being proposed. This often involves detailed development of the overall solution with vendors, and requires a thorough understanding of the vendors’ equipment and proposal.
  • Review concepts and layouts developed by colleagues for feasibility and accuracy.
  • Review proposals written by colleagues for technical and grammatical accuracy.
  • Travel to customer sites for project evaluation. This may include measuring to define ranges and interaction with both factory and corporate staff.
  • Interact with engineering and production to ensure the intended scope is followed.
  • Assist marketing with the technical aspects of product launches, sales support, educational and promotional materials.
  • Assist with pricing strategy and create price lists, assist with vendor communication in price negotiations.
  • Work with assembly and engineering to develop a testing method for given applications
  • Monitor quality issues and resolve vendor related problems.
  • Identify and understand competitive equipment.
  • Maintain up-to-date sales and technical resources.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • BS in Engineering or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Packaging and/or proposal generation background a plus.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills with programs like Word, Excel and PowerPoint, proficiency with MS Office.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex technical documents
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
  • High mechanical aptitude.
  • AutoCAD 2D skills.
  • Must be able to handle confidential information in an ethical and professional manner.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment or independently.
  • Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
  • Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills.
  • Highly organized.
  • Self-motivated, hands-on approach.
  • Excellent customer relations skills.
  • Ability to travel 20% of the time.
