Engineering Technician III

Education: High School Diploma or GED.
Months/Years of Experience: Five (5) years of applicable experience supporting engineering or testing of hardware in the appropriate area of specialization; or two (2) years of applicable college/vocational/military/technical school and three (3) years of applicable experience in the assigned specialty area; and the following additional requirements: Experience must include successful completion of sixteen (16) weeks of civilian or military training in electronics or basic instrumentation techniques and a minimum of two (2) years of experience in electronics/instrumentation supporting engineering or testing of military hardware.
Required Qualifications: U.S. Citizenship. A valid driver's license. Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance. Position will require laboratory bench work as well as manual lifting of up to 50 lbs. Ability to understand basic engineering terminology and communicate effectively with others. Read and interpret engineering drawing of components and assemblies. Proficient in the use of Ziess Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) using Calypso Software. Must be skilled in reading and understanding English, in which standing operation procedures (SOP) are written. Must be able to work as a team member in a collaborative effort, taking initiative at times when direction is implicit. Must be willing to support overtime on an occasional basis. Periodically participate in cross-functional training activities within various test laboratories performing engineering technician task in support of other test programs as dictated by overall workload requirement.
Duties: Responsible for dimensional inspection of missile and aviation components in a high accuracy dimensional metrology laboratory and other miscellaneous duties as assigned. Develop and implement dimensional inspection plans for components using state-of-the-art computerized dimensional metrology test equipment, including programming a coordinate measuring machine (CMM), and a variety of dimensional measurement systems. Use 3-dimensional computer-aided design (CAD) software to analyze dimensional inspection data generated by a CMM.
Desired Qualifications: Excellent organizational skills. MS Office proficiency. Experience in writing and modifying CMM programs (Zeiss w/Calypso). Work experience using non-contact measurement systems to collect dimensional data (Breuckmann and Faro), and work experience importing the data into 3-dimensional CAD software to perform dimensional analysis and reverse engineering (Rhino, Solidworks and Mastercam).
