Machining and Robotics Intern

This position is a paid internship/co-op for a college student currently working towards a Bachelor’s degree in, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or other mechanical or manufacturing-related fields.
The duration of this internship is expected to be between June to August 2022. This position will provide entry level support to the Mueller Water Products Chattanooga facility. LOCAL CANDIDATES ARE IDEAL.
Internship work and experiences may include any of the below mentioned tasks. Other duties may be assigned as well based on business need or learning opportunities

  • Designing and implementing manufacturing processes, equipment, and documentation to achieve the production goals of the organization
  • Involved in process improvement initiatives and projects to improve the manufacturing processes
  • Will engage in the implementation of ECO's (Engineering Change Orders) and ECR's (Engineering Change Requests) from design engineering and floor operators
  • Revising documentation used in manufacturing processes and assisting operators on a day-to-day basis
  • Identify and develop the process and equipment needed to produce specific products, parts, and components
Qualifications:

  • Strong computer skills, with an emphasis on MS Office, is preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Lean or Toyota Production Systems training preferred
  • Ability to work independently and take direction from others
  • Coursework with CAD/Drafting and/or programming is a plus
  • The candidate must be able to lift 25 lbs.
