Summer Internship - Engineering

SUMMARY OF POSITION:
This program seeks to introduce interns to the dynamics and functions of Patriot Rail’s Engineering Team, as well as provide opportunities for interns to display their potential by completing a project that will benefit their education as well as the company’s success.  Interns will be exposed to the complexity and scope of Railroad Engineering while giving them a better understanding of budget and process control in the work environment. Selected interns will participate at a full-time 8am to 5pm Monday through Friday schedule.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Interns will have the opportunity to assist with tracking of capital, M&A, and ROIC projects. Interns will be exposed to various aspects of Track Maintenance and Engineering, while learning railroad Engineering materials and project management skills.
Interns will assist in the planning and execution of Merced, Kingman, Pulaski and the CSX Interchange. Interns will also have the opportunity to assist in the development of tracking systems for daily production, down time, train delays and unit cost calculations.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Engineering Degree – Civil or Mechanical Preferred
Excellent writing, communication, and organization skills
Preference given to candidates with an interest in transportation/logistics
