Entry Level Bridge Design Engineer

Modjeski and Masters is looking to hire an entry level Bridge Design Engineer with 0-3 years of bridge design and analysis experience to join our Denver Structures Business Unit. Our team, based in Littleton, CO, works on exciting bridge and structures projects across the country. We are looking for a driven, motivated, self-starting, entry-level engineer to grow with us as we supply our bridge design and construction expertise to clients across the country.
Education and Experience:
  • A minimum of a BS degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university is required.
  • 0-3 years of previous bridge and structural engineering experience under the direction of a licensed PE or SE.
  • Previous experience with design and analysis software common to the field of structural engineering is desired. Some examples are LUSAS, RISA-3D, LEAP Bridge, AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.
  • Familiarity with relevant bridge and structure design specifications (i.e. AASHTO, AREMA, AISC, ACI, etc.) is a plus.
License Requirements:
  • EI is required (or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire date). 
  • PE or SE is a plus.
General Responsibilities:
  • Review and check standard structural design calculations.
  • Perform structural analysis and design of various structural components including bridge superstructures, bridge substructures and foundations, retaining walls and temporary works under the direct guidance and supervision of a licensed professional engineer.
  • Develop design details using CADD software.
  • Prepare project related documents and internal correspondence.
  • Assist in the preparation of project plans, reports, and specifications.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as directed by a supervisor and project manager including field observations and construction service assignments.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to work well in a team environment on bridge related projects.
  • Able to learn and correctly apply relevant design specifications, including: AASHTO, AREMA, AISC, ACI, etc.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis methods.
  • Physically capable of climbing ladders, stairways, and able to work on walkways and platforms at higher elevations, such as on the tops of bridges during field assignments and
  • Good oral and written communications skills, with a fluency in English. Must be able to effectively communicate ideas and information with coworkers, project managers, supervisors, and clients.

Salary Range:
$60,000 to $70,000 per year anticipated. Actual compensation may vary based on multiple factors, including: experience, education, and skill level.
