Entry Level Civil Engineer or Planner

We are currently looking for an entry-level Multimodal (Civil or Transportation) Engineer or Planner to support a variety of transportation projects and the FDOT MDO office. Successful candidate will be self-starter and a highly motivated person with a desire to learn more about transit and transportation planning, as well as project coordination and oversight. Responsibilities
- General in-house office support
- Assist the FDOT D6 modal office administrator managing PD&E studies for the SMART Plan projects, daily tasks include:
- Maintain and update project schedules
- Maintain project files
- Develop, maintain, and update deliverables tracking spreadsheets and financial information spreadsheets for various projects
- Prepare progress meeting material, and provide weekly project status updates
- Organize and schedule meetings
- Prepare meeting minutes
- Prepare and update project status presentations
- Review permit plans
- Coordinate with project managers to ensure projects’ deliverables are submitted on time
- Coordinate review of plans and documents submitted to the Department
- Monitor progress status of review phases to ensure Department’s concerns are addressed
- Coordinate with FDOT staff to resolve project specific questions or issues
- Respond to public records requests
- Respond to any information request related to FDOT lead SMART Plan projects
- Assist in the development of project agreements and memoranda of understanding with partner agencies
- Review project documents which include technical documents, presentations, factsheets, scopes of work
- Research information on various technical, and state and federal policy/guidance topics.
- QA/QC documents
- Prepare progress reports
Minimum Qualifications
- BA/BS Minimum in Engineering/Planning.
- Must be an E.I T. Or P.E.
- Previous related experience highly desired but not required
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Traffic operations, transit and/or multimodal planning is desired
- Preliminary Engineering or Plans Production experience is a plus
