Intern, Property Tax

Kroll’s Property Tax Services assists clients in identifying tax saving opportunities by reviewing their tangible property portfolio and associated property tax assessments and liabilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
This internship blends the analytical and problem-solving skills used in environmental, civil and mechanical engineering with the valuation and cost accounting skills used in Finance and Accounting at major energy companies across the nation. The internship provides an opportunity to work in a true consulting practice that focuses on the business opportunities and tax minimization potential available through new capital expenditure and/or acquisitions made by regulated and unregulated natural gas and power generation companies in the U.S addition to supporting the execution of project-specific work.

  • Assisting Directors and Staff in initiating and processing all property tax appeals in a timely manner
  • Researching new and current property tax legislation and Pollution Control Exemption Statutes
  • Identifying tax savings strategies
  • Acquiring and reviewing property tax returns, property tax assessments, and tax bills in regards to specialized property tax solutions
  • Assisting in the preparation of valuation arguments/deliverables and negotiating values with assessment officials

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Earth and Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Engineering, Environmental and Policy Management, Finance, Accounting or Economics from an accredited university or college
  • Expected graduation date before August 2023
  • Minimum current Major GPA of 3.0
  • Motivated by multiple projects and competing deadlines
  • Strong analytical, comprehension, research and problem solving skills, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Commitment to obtaining outstanding results
  • Desire to be an integral member of a fast-paced, dynamic team
