Acquisition & Relocation Program Supervisor (PAS6)

The Opportunity
WSDOT is eager to hire an experienced real estate professional looking to advance their career into a leadership role and serve as our Acquisition & Relocation Program Supervisor. The primary undertaking of this position is to assist WSDOT’s Northwest Region (NWR) in delivering WSDOT projects per a predefined schedule in accordance with Federal, State, and WSDOT regulatory and policy requirements. As the Acquisition & Relocation Program Supervisor, this position will supervise the acquisition and relocation team and consultants to acquire the real property and/or property rights required for WSDOT projects in compliance with the Uniform Relocation Act. This position plays a key role in supporting WSDOT’s mission to provide integrated, multimodal transportation systems through efficient acquisition of the property and or property rights needed to successfully deliver WSDOT projects.
 
What to Expect
Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, the Acquisition & Relocation Program Supervisor will:
  • Supervise the acquisition and relocation team within WSDOT’s NWR Real Estate Services Office, providing training and career development for staff. 
  • Monitor staff work to ensure compliance with the Uniform Relocation Act and initiate corrective action when error or inconsistencies are found. 
  • Respond to inquires from the general public, consultant firms, and internal WSDOT departments and advise a course of action concerning property acquisitions.
  • Participate and/or assist with the development and execution of a strategic Right of Way delivery plan for WSDOT NWR projects, including the development of budget and reporting duties. 
  • Use independent judgement and expertise to provide technical and policy recommendations to WSDOT leadership regarding property acquisitions. 
  • Use independent judgement and expertise to provide technical and policy recommendations to WSDOT leadership in generating a consultant contract Scope of Work, developing consultant task orders, and review and advise on consultant bids and invoices. 
 
Qualifications
To be considered for this opportunity, the following are required:
  • 12 months of experience as a Property & Acquisition Specialist 5, OR
  • Three (3) years of experience in real property appraising, property negotiations, public property management or selling, leasing, or buying real estate. 
 
In addition to:
  • Current driver’s license
  • Current state of Washington Notary Stamp license or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire. 
  • Proficient with computer software programs including but not limited to Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, FileMaker Pro, Adobe, SharePoint, etc. 
 
It is preferred that qualified candidates also have:
  • Bachelors degree involving a major study in business or public administration, real estate, economics, accounting, or related field. 
  • Three (3) years of experience in real property appraising, property negotiations, public property management or selling, leasing, or buying real estate for a public entity. 
  • Knowledge and understanding of WSDOT ROW Manual.

  • The salary listed includes the legislative approved 5% salary premium for positions in King County. An additional general wage increase of 3.25% will be applied for all state employees on July 1, 2022.
