Field Service Engineer

MSHS specializes in the overhaul, repair, maintenance and testing of diesel engines, turbochargers and filtration equipment. As an authorized distributor and service center for the world's diesel engine, turbocharger and equipment manufacturers, MSHS provides extensive service and inventory support. MSHS is ISO 9001:2015 certified and has a dedicated staff of engineers, mechanics and machinists. 

Summary: Reporting to the Service Manager, we are seeking an energetic experienced Automation and Controls System Service / Commissioning Engineer that will be responsible for supporting/leading the commissioning and service of control systems for power generation and propulsion control systems driven by prime movers (steam / gas / hydro turbines and diesel / gas engines).
You will have proven experience in the field of commissioning of turbines and engines, be that power generation or propulsion systems, you must be able to troubleshoot, offer solutions and rectify customer problems on products supported by the company. You will be expected to support all other groups in the company within reason as required. 
We are a service driven company, we must respond to our customers needs in a timely and effective manner as such there will be times when urgent travel, technical support is required. 

Duties & Responsibilities: 
  • Field Service and technical support by phone
  • Field support as required on Woodward, Regulateurs Europa, Heinzmann and Diesel Kiki Actuators and mechanical and electronic Governors and Power-Management controls.
  • Field Support as required on HMI / SCADA programming, AStudio, Indusoft, IFix, Citect, Wonderware, RSView and AVR configuring of Basler DECS200, DECS250, DECS400, ABB Unitrol, KRAL Flow Meters, Scada, PLC and Schaller Automation products.
  • Technical application assistance for inside and outside sales.
  • Calibration of all Woodward actuators and governors.
  • Calibration of all Regulateurs Europa governors.
  • Calibration of all Diesel Kiki governors.
  • Assist in building and testing electrical cabinets for company engineered systems.
  • Turbine controls MK-V and MK-VI controls configuration and tuning.
  • PLC Programming, RSLogix 5000, Step 7, GE Fanuc, GAP.
  • Technically assist our AISF’s in the Caribbean and Central America with applications and training with product as applicable.
  • Provide standard and customized training at the company as well as on customer site.
  • Commission the company engineered systems on site and liaise with company engineering team in case of required changes to original design (hardware as well as software).
  • Update the company mechanical-, layout- and electrical drawings to “as-built” status after completion of commissioning of a project and archive according to company standard procedures.
  • Update the company system manuals and other documentation to “as-built” status after completion of commissioning of a project and archive according to company standard procedures.

Skills & Experience:
  • Turbine controls MKV or MKVI and VIe controls configuration and tuning experience.
  • In-depth Knowledge gained through commissioning LM2500, LM6000 and Frame 5, 6 turbines.
  • In-depth Knowledge of Woodward controls, EGCP’s, GCP, MFR, easYgen, LS4 & 5 and DSLC/MSLC’s.
  • PLC programming experience, Woodward GAP, GE Fanuc.
  • HMI / SCADA programming experience of any, AStudio, IFix, Citect, Wonderware, RSView.
  • AVR configuring experience, Basler DECS200, DECS400, ABB Unitrol.
  • Programming in C, C++, (would be a plus).
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office business software, Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio.
  • Digital networks and communications experience.
  • Demonstrated self starting ability.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (in English a must, Spanish would be a plus).
  • Customer oriented with good interpersonal skills.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor degree in electrical engineering or equivalent and 3 years relevant work experience or diploma and 8 years relevant work experience in power generation, industrial automation or related industry.
  • Able to travel, domestically and internationally (Travel approx. 60% of time).
  • Valid US Driving License.
  • Valid Passport (Travel required for some projects)
