Job Description:

We are hiring a Career-Connected Learning Tribal Liaison with the Office of Teaching, Learning, and Assessment. This is a full-time, Limited Duration position expected to end June 30, 2023; however, the position may be extended pending funding approval. Limited duration appointments are benefits eligible. This position is represented by the SEIU.
This position is eligible for a flexible hybrid remote work schedule.  This position is ideal for those seeking more work/life balance with the ability to work a hybrid of both office and remote work environments. The duties of this position are performed remotely as well as at our central office in Salem, the Public Service Building. Hybrid work at the Public Service Building is generally performed eight times per year, and the ability to report to Salem is required on an as-needed basis when the business or operational needs are dependent on onsite activities.

What you will do!

Oregon is launching a new Career Connected Learning Network.  Career-connected learning supports students in developing career awareness, career exploration, career preparation, and career training.  It builds a vital bridge between learning in schools and applying that learning in community and work settings. This position will serve as ODE’s Tribal Liaison for Career and Technical Education (CTE), Career-Connected Learning (CCL), and related programs. This position also coordinates and supports CCL programs for Tribes and school districts collaborating with Tribes. This position will represent ODE’s CTE and CCL programs before the Government-to-Government Education Cluster and ODE’s American Indian/Alaska Native Education Advisory Council. 
As Tribal Liaison, this position will develop relationships with members of Oregon’s nine federally recognized Tribes and foster collaborative projects with the Tribes to implement CTE and CCL program services. Come be at the heart of the action, helping design and implement systems that will drive improved opportunities for students across the state to find their passion, network with professionals, and practice making their communities thrive. A day in the life:

  • Build collaborative partnerships between ODE’s Career and Technical Education and Career-Centered Learning Program staff and Oregon’s Nine Federally Recognized Tribes
  • Coordinate with the Tribes to inform ODE’s CTE and CCL programs, supports, resources,,, and evaluation activities
  • Coordinate and support CCL programs with Tribes and school districts collaborating with Tribes
  • Serve on Oregon’s CTE State Plan Career Connected Learning Action Team and contribute to the building and implementation of annual action plans

What are the minimum qualifications?

A Bachelor's Degree in Business or Public Administration, Behavioral or Social Sciences, or a degree related to the agency program that demonstrates the capacity for the knowledge and skills; and four years of experience coordinating or administering a program
OR;
Any combination of experience or education equivalent to seven years of experience that typically supports the knowledge and skill requirements listed for the classification.

  • Deep knowledge, and experience with Tribal governmental structures and cultures
  • Strong comprehensive writing, speaking, listening, facilitation, and non-verbal communication skills
  • Experience providing advice or technical assistance to Tribes, school districts, community groups, and business and industry partners
  • Ability to establish effective relationships with a variety of partners and community groups who represent diverse perspectives
  • Ability to collaboratively work across the agency, state government, with school districts, public charter schools, private schools, and postsecondary education and training organizations
