Graduates start their careers at National Grid with an in-depth 4-week in-person Orientation which gives you exposure to all parts of the company, allows you to network with your Graduate cohort, GDP alumni, and senior leaders, and provides you with the opportunity to travel throughout our service territory in the northeast US. Following Orientation, Graduates begin working in their hired position and take part ongoing development activities through your first year including monthly development sessions, active mentorship, and a Capstone Project at the completion of your first year with National Grid. 

About the Position

Here at National Grid, Gas Asset Engineering plays a pivotal role in ensuring system and customer reliability. As an Associate Engineer, you will have the opportunity to conduct regular reviews and offer recommendations for system construction and maintenance activities. In this group, you will have the chance to see new and exciting developments first in Waltham. You will be in constant communication with our customers and interface with internal stakeholders (Gas Control, Construction & Field Operations, Instrumentation & Regulation, Customer Connections, and more!). Finally, as an Associate Engineer in the department, you may even be called upon to support our Field Operations group in particular on-call emergency conditions.

What You'll Do

  • Prepare engineering analyses utilizing Synergi hydraulic network software to determine the gas system's capability to deliver gas safely and reliably to its customers under normal, peak, and contingency/emergency conditions
  • Analyze Gas Capacity Requests (GCRs) to determine the ability of the gas system to supply new residential, commercial, and industrial loads
  • Review System Operating Procedures (SOPs) for planned construction and maintenance activities
 

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline is required; an ABET-accredited degree is preferred
  • Graduated between May 2022 and June 2023 
  • Ability to begin the National Grid Graduate Program on May 30, 2023, or June 26, 2023 
  • Valid US driver's license 
  • Applicants for the Graduate Development Program must have work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States (such as sponsorship for an H-1B, TN, O, L, STEM OPT, or other employment-based work authorization)
 

It would awesome if you had

  • EIT (Engineer-In-Training) certification
  • Prior internship or engineering project work experience
 

Salary

$80,750 - $95,000 a year
