Project Engineer

Responsibilities


  • Use sound engineering & statistical techniques to identify, implement, and monitor process improvements.
  • Provide leadership to multi-disciplined teams to achieve stated goals.
  • Complete other engineering related projects and tasks as needed.
  • Lead projects as necessary to support process improvement projects.
  • Work independently, and as part of multi-department teams to reach individual, team & plant goals.
  • Create and maintain process documentation (P&ID’s, layout drawings, manuals, etc.).
  • Provide progress status reports to all levels of management as necessary.
  • Proactive development and efficient implementation of production process and equipment improvements after Management approval has been granted.
  • Ensuring and improving profitability of Employer’s business through cost conscious negotiations with vendors and service providers in Employee’s area of responsibility.
  • Continuously researching and monitoring of technology trends in all related areas.
  • Timely preparation of plans, budgets, reports and analyses as required by Employer.
  • Open, cooperative, and full communication with all other departments, staff and management of Employer, and J. Rettenmaier & Söhne GmbH, Germany and their affiliates.
  • Applying of ethical business practices in all job related areas.
  • Polite and professional representation of Employer to its vendors, existing and potential customers, and any other business contact.
  • Effective management of all administrative functions of the Employee’s area of responsibility that are necessary to successfully perform job duties within the guidelines of Employer.

Minimum Job Requirements, Skills, Qualifications, Certifications and Licenses


  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in manufacturing, industrial or process engineering, or 5 years equivalent job experience in an industrial environment.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written & oral communication skills.
  • Must be self-driven, pro-active, and able to work independently within area of responsibility.
  • Effective organizational skills with the ability to maintain accurate electronic & paper records.
  • Effective time management skills with the ability to prioritize & manage multiple projects & tasks concurrently.
  • Excellent computer skills, (AutoCAD, MS Office – Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.).
  • Experience with MS project a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license (pre-requisite for forklift license and business travel).


Interactions and Tools/Equipment Utilized in the Job


  • Work with Production, QA, Maintenance & other departments as needed.
  • Work with teams at other JRS facilities as needed, with possible extended travel/stay on occasion.
  • Work with outside contractors as necessary to complete projects/tasks.
  • Operate company vehicles as needed (lift trucks, man-lifts, company cars, etc.).
  • Accurately operate engineering test & measurement equipment.
  • Utilize typical office equipment, i.e. computers, laptops, tablets, etc.

Physical Requirements


  • Job requires frequent walking, climbing stairs & ladders, and standing for long periods of time, and also occasional work at heights & in confined spaces.
  • Job requires occasional work out of man lifts and on roof structures at elevations up to 150’.
  • Job includes occasional exposure to weather in all seasons.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. on occasion.
  • Job requires long periods of sitting, typing & viewing computer screen.
