We have an exciting opportunity for an ISS Robotics Software Integration Systems Engineer to join our team with JETS teammate company, Barrios Technology, Inc.

This role will support projects for the Mobile Servicing System (MSS) as member of International Space Station (ISS) Robotics Software Integration (IRSI) team.

The selected candidate will:
  • Perform the duties of a mid-level engineer with responsibilities of supporting the robotics system engineering team in effort to integrate space station hardware and software with the International Space System (ISS)
  • Participate as a member of the robotics software system engineering team to provide "cradle to grave" engineering support services for requirements definition, system analysis, design, integration, test, verification, and on-orbit operations of hardware and software for ISS utilization customers and ISS system providers requiring robotic support for handling visiting free flyer vehicles. Duties include:
  • Establish robotic requirements for the MSS end user
  • Provide consulting assistance to the MSS end user to properly apply those requirements to their system design
  • Provide analytical support of the end user's system design for identifying potential non-standard services (e.g., robotic testing at Johnson Space Center facilities).
  • Provide consulting assistance to the MSS end user to understand verification processes so they can provide necessary and sufficient evidence for successful verification closures.
  • Provide technical analysis and approval of verification data submittals.
  • Provide technical support for programmatic forums, including participating in ISS boards and panels, regular project tag-ups and reviews.
  • Provide technical support to identify and resolve robotic related technical and safety issues for ground processing, flight environments, visiting vehicle operations, and on-orbit robotic transfer.
  • Provide technical support to the MSS SM to review programmatic documentation and identify impacts to robotics.
  • Provide technical support for resolution of robotic related issues during design, test, and on-orbit operations of visiting vehicles
  • Perform other analyses as necessary and/or as requested to further develop robot system operations concepts for ISS integration.
  • Develop models as necessary for dynamic simulations of all robot systems, environments, visiting vehicles, and activities as requested
  • Provide technical support for the Software Development and Integration Lab (SDIL) MSS and Robotics Workstation (RWS) flight software testing and post testing analysis
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Typically has a BS degree in a computer or system science discipline from an accredited college or university
  • Experience or course work in robotics requirements, design, development, and test      

Requisition Preferences:
  • Typically has a BS degree in a computer or system science discipline from an accredited college or university and one (1) years of progressive, relevant experience, or an MS degree in a computer or system science discipline

Experience or course work in:
  • Hardware/software integration and test
  • Software programming
  • Systems engineering
  • System verification
  • Python
  • Matlab
  • Robotics analysis
  • Familiar with ISS Analysis Coordinate System (ISSACS)
  • Familiar with Visiting Vehicle Local Vertical Local Horizontal (LVLH) Coordinate System
  • Familiar with Orbital Mechanics
  • Highly effective communication skills, including verbal and technical writing.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, rapidly changing engineering environment with demanding customers on a compressed schedule

Essential Functions
 
Work Environment
Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.
Physical Requirements
Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).

Equipment and Machines
Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).

Attendance
Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
