Lumentum DIB Scholarship

Overview
Lumentum US San Jose Wafer FAB Process Engineering team is looking for an Engineering Technical Writer Intern to drive for standardization and accuracy of process Work Instructions to meet ISO and Lumentum’s quality policy/procedures. This Intern will have the opportunity to learn various Quality standards, problem solving tools and methodologies, Rose Orchard Fab processes, and production training requirements. This position sits in “ROW” (80 Rose Orchard Way, San Jose, CA).

Responsibilities
The Engineering Technical Writer Intern’s responsibilities would include but not be limited to the following:
  • Work with various Subject Matter Experts to define standards for document scope and content
  • Verify content accuracy, readability and trainability of existing Work Instructions
  • Write and revise process Work Instructions to meet standards using existing company document control methodology and frame work
  • Develop training checklists based on process Work Instructions
  • Coordinate process improvement activities

If COVID restrictions allow for it, this internship will be on-site in San Jose, California.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Qualified candidates will be enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Engineering, Communications, English, Linguistics or a related major. Students must be returning to school following the internship.

Desired Qualifications
  • Strong communications, initiative, and teamwork
  • Strong experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent written skills
  • Experience with Fab manufacturing processes is a plus
  • Experience with production training material development is a plus
