Engineering Technician II

The Agency of Transportation has an exciting opportunity for an independent-thinking Engineering Technician looking to work in the construction field as an Inspector or Chief Inspector providing oversight on highway construction projects. In this position, you will be provided the opportunity to gain the skills necessary to advance into the Resident Engineer role. Construction Inspectors and Resident Engineers are exposed to a wide variety of construction projects ranging from paving, roadway, and bridge construction, to railroad work and even the occasional covered bridge restoration. While gaining valuable experience actively checking and documenting all aspects of transportation projects you will have an opportunity to collaborate with designers, contractors, state and local officials, and subject matter experts from all disciplines of engineering and construction. You will assist in the inspection of a specific project or multiple projects under the direction of a Chief Inspector or Resident Engineer. Or, based on experience, you may be assigned the Chief Inspector for the project(s). The official workstation is Construction Headquarters in Berlin and you may be assigned to work anywhere in the State. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering technology, environmental technology, surveying, construction technology, architecture, construction management, or related technical field.
OR
Associate degree in civil engineering, environmental technology, engineering technology, surveying, construction technology, architecture, construction management, or related field AND two (2) years’ experience performing engineering support tasks involved in one or more of the following: planning, surveying, design, inspection, construction, research and statistics, testing, investigation, maintenance or construction of various types of civil engineering projects.
