Mechanical Engineering Intern (Optical Transceivers)

Lumentum DIB Scholarship
Lumentum awarded scholarships of $10,000.00 to 10 of our 2022 U.S. based interns from underrepresented groups. We will also award scholarships in 2023. To be considered for the scholarship, the first thing you need to do is apply for a Lumentum internship so you can be considered for a job with us. To receive the DIB scholarship, you must complete a summer internship with Lumentum.

Overview
The Lumentum Dallas Team is a market leader in producing optical transceivers

Responsibilities
The Mechanical Engineering Intern’s responsibilities would include but not be limited to the following:
  • Thermal Simulation
  • Design analysis of optical transceiver housing and test systems
  • Product Configuration management

If COVID restrictions allow for it, this internship will be on-site in Dallas, Texas.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Qualified candidates will be enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Mechanical Engineering or a related major. Students must be returning to school following the internship.

Desired Qualifications
  • Strong communications, initiative, and teamwork
  • Strong experience using Solidworks and Flow Simulation
  • Experience with production lines
  • Some experience in programming language – e.g. Python

Hourly Range: $23.75 - $54.50

Disclaimer: Final base salary for the intern candidate will depend on multiple factors, including but not limited to, job location, where work will be performed, qualifications, work history, year in school and relevant experience.
