BSA LifeStructures is a well-established and leading Architecture, Engineering and Interior Design firm which specializes in Healthcare, Higher Education and Research Facility design. We are currently accepting applications for a Summer 2023 Mechanical Engineering Intern for our Indianapolis, IN location. This position is responsible for assisting with construction documents, rendering and research on design projects within the Engineering department. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Participation in the development of design ideas based on factors such as appealing appearance, design-function relationships, serviceability, and client specifications.
  • Prepares working drawings from sketches and design specification.
  • Preparation of presentations and materials for clients.
  • Participate in project design meetings to experience how multi-disciplinary teams collaborate on project design and delivery. 
  • Attend client meetings; visit construction sites on projects.
  • Participate in site surveys to gather field data.
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Promote company’s reputation through good client and vendor relations.
  • Continue to develop design skills and pursue opportunities for continued education on topics related to the field of Engineering.
  • May be required to perform other duties as assigned.

  • High accuracy and attention to detail: Able to perform work and job function with precision and accuracy; realizes errors can have significant impact on desired results and is able to avoid errors in almost all circumstances; carefully monitors processes; concentrates on details and organizes and maintains a system of records.
  • Design: Generates creative solutions; translates concepts and information into images; uses feedback to modify designs; applies design principles; demonstrates attention to detail.
  • Code and mathematical knowledge: Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local building codes and safety laws. Work requires advanced math skills, special relationship abilities, and the ability to understand abstract principles behind math and physics. 
  • Computer skills required: Microsoft Windows environment, Microsoft Office: Word, PowerPoint, Excel; Google: Mail, Calendar, Drive, Apps; AutoCAD, Revit, 3D CADD, Revit, SketchUp, Graphic Software: InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop

Required
