Teacher - Music

LOCATION: Charter School (Either campus)                     

PRIMARY FUNCTION:    Responsible for developing, planning, organizing, and implementing a high quality, comprehensive and appropriate multicultural music education curriculum, and program for students in grades K5 - 8.

PRIMARY DUTIES:   
1.     Develop and implement a multicultural and grade-level appropriate music curriculum consistent with the Wisconsin State Academic Standards.
2.     Administer formal and informal assessments that specifically evaluate academic growth in student’s music skills and knowledge.   
3.     Develop weekly lesson plans that are aligned with Wisconsin State Music Standards. Submit plans as directed to administer.
4.     Coordinate school scheduled concert performances and work with other staff to ensure a robust, culturally relevant, engaging, fun events. Also, encourage and support student participation in community music-related activities and events.
5.     Research and establish relationships with community music resources, such as guest local artists, live performances, Milwaukee Youth Symphony, Skylight Theater, Milwaukee Public Theatre, concerts, etc. that will bring awareness for the arts to our students. 
6.     Ensure parents are engaged and informed about the importance and effectiveness of music in their child’s life.  
7.     Establish and maintain good communication, collaboration, and cooperation with all parents, co-workers, and administrators. E
8.     Attend meetings and professional development activities as requested. NE
9.     Follow all duties of a mandated reporter. E
10. Perform other related duties as assigned. NE

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is generally performed in classroom and school environments. Some infrequent local/state-wide travel.

REPORTS TO: Administrator

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1.     Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education, Music Production, Music Therapy or other closely related field from an accredited University or College.
2.     Valid WI DPI License in applicable area and /or range or ability to obtain a License with Stipulation (Emergency License).
3.     Bilingual - English/Spanish (Highly desirable)
4.     Neat orderly person with great organizational skills.
5.     Must be a “People Person” with a great disposition and outlook on life, who enjoys working with others, is upbeat and pleasant to work with, and is a good listener.
6.     Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office suite.
7.     Must be willing and able to work flexible hours as needed.
8.     Excellent communication and documentation skills, written and verbal.
9.     Must pass all background checks.
