Intern, Process Engineering

Summary: 

This application is for a 12-week internship role from June - August 2023. Resume review begins in January 2023.

Biogen Process Engineering at the Research Triangle Park (RTP) Pharma site supports two sterile filling lines and an Automated Visual Inspection Machine at the Parenteral Facility and a small-scale filling line, Oligonucleotide Synthesis Manufacturing Area, and an Oral Solid Dose Manufacturing Area in Building 35. Process Engineering helps with design, installation, modification, and troubleshooting of new and existing equipment. Process Engineering also provides technical support for Manufacturing and other Engineering Departments.

In this internship, you will focus primarily on continuous improvement and capture of tribal knowledge within the Process Engineering Department. You will work with all Process Engineers to understand select processes from end to end and capture knowledge, file locations, and best practices. In this role, you will also interface with Manufacturing and other Engineering Departments to understand the Process Engineer’s role. You will also interact with each of Biogen Computerized Systems to capture information and process flows.

Projects may include:
  • Consolidation, organization, and relocation of files to SharePoint etc.
  • Creation/Modification of Work Instructions, SOP’s, Procedures, and other trainings
  • Other small projects and support to the Process Engineering Department


Qualifications: 

  • Fluent in Microsoft Office; SharePoint is a plus
  • Great communication skills
  • Ability to hit deadlines and understand processes from start to finish
  • Knowledge of Lean practices and principles a plus
  • Knowledge of SolidWorks a plus

To participate in the Biogen Internship Program, students must meet the following eligibility criteria:
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
  • At least 18 years of age prior to the scheduled start date
  • Be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university

Education:
Candidate must be a rising sophomore or above and currently enrolled in an engineering degree program, preferably Industrial, Mechanical, Biomedical, or Computer Engineering, however, other disciplines will be considered.
