Quality Engineer

Basic Purpose of Position: Plans and conducts activities concerned with the quality assurance of industrial processes, materials, and products by performing the following duties.

Responsibilities:
  • SAFETY:  Ensure that all assignments are performed in compliance with all applicable Federal, State, Provincial and Company safety and health regulations, and where applicable, proper personal protective equipment is utilized.
  • QUALITY: Ensure that all work being performed, products and processes meet or exceed Spartronics quality standards and customer expectations. 
  • Drive quality assurance initiatives to achieve exceptional product quality and reliability with focus on manufacturing process capabilities and product specifications / requirements.
  • Drive and support functional owners to achieve effective use of risk management processes through the use of FMEA, APQP, Control Plans and mistake proofing in product and process design.
  • Plans, coordinates and executes internal audits, and assists in coordination and management of Layered Process Audits, third party and customer audits, such as ISO, UL, AS9100, etc.
  • Introduces and utilizes appropriate quality tools to evaluate product and process performance such as, Pareto charts, trend analysis, statistical process control (SPC), and process maps.
  • Primary customer quality interface - Communicates with customer providing technical support on quality issues and performance. Provides guidance to Sparton team on customer requirements and expectations.
  • Drive continuous improvement across facility’s Key Process Indicators (scrap, rework, PPM) utilizing Lean, Six Sigma, Poke Yoke and related process improvement tools and methodologies.
  • Lead the Root Cause Analysis and Corrective/Preventative action processes, utilizing problem solving tools within an 8D methodology.
  • Lead APQP as part of the New Product Introduction teams, including project risk management activities.
  • Provide technical assistance in the development and implementation of robust processes to meet customer requirements, including QA plans and process routings
  • Key member of the Quality Team – Provides specific guidance and direction to general staff as well as department managers, functional owners in implementation of the quality system and compliance with quality standards and regulations.
  • Monitor and follow-up on supplier quality and corrective actions as necessary affecting your support areas.
  • Monitor MRB along with timely disposition of suspect product.
  • All other duties as they are assigned


Requirements: This position is located onsite here in Brooksville Florida (this is not a remote or hybrid role)
  • US Citizen or Lawful US Permanent Resident is a requirement per International Traffic in Arms Regulations ("ITAR").  
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering field or area of study deemed acceptable by the hiring team, or appropriate years of direct experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years quality engineering experience in electronics or related environment. 
  • Experience developing work instructions and relative QMS procedures.
  • Thorough understanding of ISO 9001 requirements. AS9100 experience preferred.
  • Ability to function effectively in a team environment.
  • Effective communication skills driven by attention to detail.
  • Understanding and facilitation of APQP events in the New Product Introduction process cycle.
  • Excellent analytical skills using DMAIC Six Sigma and Lean Principles.
  • Good working knowledge of quality/reliability engineering statistical techniques.
  • Self-motivated and self-managed.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects at the same time.
  • Certified Six Sigma Green Belt or Six Sigma Black Belt or CQE preferred.
