Mechanical Engineering Intern – Lighting - Summer 2023

My name is Keith M Kolmos (he / him) and I am the Director of Engineering for our Appleton Lighting brand. You’ll play a key role in supporting Appleton’s mission of providing best in class lighting products for industrial and hazardous locations. Come join us and help design the next generation!
 
AS AN INTERN, YOU WILL:
Expand your technical and professional skills in a real-world setting. Our interns are given meaningful work, support, and mentorship from experienced managers and key business leaders. You’ll have opportunities to gain knowledge and experience in a variety of ways by exploring projects and roles associated with your major and collaborating with multiple departments.

A DAY IN THE LIFE MAY CONSIST OF:
  • Create 3D models in Creo for New Product Development Initiatives
  • Create 2D drawings in AutoCAD
  • Review 3D models and CAD drawings from other Mechanical Engineers
  • Assist Senior Design Engineers
  • Conduct Testing on Physical Products

YOU ARE:
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering
  • Willing and able to work 40 hours a week, Monday through Friday, at our office in East Dundee, IL, during Summer 2023
  • Legally authorization to work in the United States.
 
IT’S A BONUS IF YOU:
  • A comfort level working in a model shop for prototyping small parts / modifying existing parts to demonstrate feasibility
  • Experience working with 3D printers for rapid prototyping
