Engineering Intern, Ohio

DNV's – Energy Systems North America Region is seeking an Engineering Intern to work in the Advisory Services Department in the Service Area for Midstream/Downstream & Labs. This team of engineering consultants specializes in internal and external pipeline corrosion management, hydraulic and flow assurance modeling, and computational fluid modeling.
 
The Engineering Intern will have the opportunity to learn how we initiate, develop, and complete engineering consulting studies for DNV clients. This position reports to the Head of Department in Advisory Services.
 
The position is based in the Columbus (Dublin OH) office.
The duration of this position is for 6 to 12 months only.
 
What you’ll do
  • Working effectively and efficiently within a group of engineers and consultants
  • Carrying out engineering consulting studies using software packages
  • Modeling pipeline systems and associated facilities from upstream, midstream to downstream
  • Compiling data received from clients and determining the appropriate methodologies and calculations to solve issue at hand
  • Documenting analyses, processes, and procedures in a technical format to clearly deliver results and impact of those results to client
  • Engage in a group of engineers and consultants, reviewing, and verifying each other’s work
  • Interact with other team members and clients in a manner that is professional and promotes collaboration
  • Setup and prepare pipeline and coupon samples for analyses in the laboratory
  • Carry out regulatory compliance reviews of client assets and facilities

What is Required

  • Engineering Student (preferably Mechanical, Chemical or Pipeline) from an accredited university
  • Microsoft Excel and Word, strong technical writing skills, problem solving, critical thinking, ability to pick up technical concepts quickly
  • Attention to detail, internally motivated, hardworking, strong social skills, professional presence, takes initiative
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to respect and understand cultural diversity and create a positive team spirit
  • Ability to work on a team effectively and efficiently, but also be able to show effectiveness when working alone
  • Ability to handle fast pace, high demand environments with strong time management skills.
  • Actively seeks opportunities to help team members with demanding project schedules and expectations
  • Travel requirement 10%
