Running Business Unit Intern

June - August 2022 • Portland, OR

What I liked

I loved the creativity freedom we get as individuals to express ourselves. The brand in itself represents everything I stand for which I really like as well. The environment and the flexibility work ethic are things I enjoy. My team and co workers are super helpful and friendly as well. The program in itself is fueled by everyone’s great vibe and energy!

What I wish was different

I wish I would’ve gotten more background on the job specifications beforehand because it’s an amazing position but I was just a bit blind sighted coming in and feel as if I could’ve maybe performed better from the very beginning had I known my responsibilities. The job in itself is great once you get into the routine of things!

Advice

Be yourself, literally get out there and be 100% who you are, don’t try to seek the right answers because there are none. You will get noticed from uniqueness, trust me. Be as creative as possible!

Digital Projects Intern

May - August 2022 • Portland, OR

What I liked

The Early Career Talent Acquisition team and my internship Line Manager were some of the best resources and people I got to connect with during my internship. adidas cultivates an environment of uplifting and educating their interns and truly valuing our perspective. My manager not only wanted to help me succeed in my role but also helped me connect with other parts of the business that I was interested in to explore my passions. My team made me an integrated member by supporting me to share my project on a grand scale, presenting to senior leadership and the entire digital and eCom department. I also loved how the brand encouraged all the interns to share our internship experience on social media and show others what life is like at adidas. This internship was an extraordinary learning experience and a great career opportunity to grow personally and professionally.

What I wish was different

Overall, I really enjoyed my internship experience at adidas. My one suggestion would be to have more detailed job descriptions for the open internship roles on the career website, so applicants have a better understanding of what role/department they are applying for.

Advice

At adidas, if you can dream it, you can do it. Don't be afraid to try something new and do things differently than everyone else. Work to stand out and set yourself apart in your job and people will notice! adidas values diverse personalities and perspectives. Ask meaningful questions, be curious, and connect with as many people as you can. Coffee chats are a great way to stay connected with the organization, getting to know people and understanding their roles. Most importantly, have fun! Being a part of the 3-stripe team is such a memorable experience, enjoy every minute of it!

Product Marketing Intern

May - August 2018 • Portland, OR

What I liked

I really enjoyed the freedom I had during my internship. Although my team in the Originals department gave me meaningful work, they also encouraged me to pursue creative projects of my own that could benefit the brand. The company culture is also fun (they have sports tournaments and even encourage employees to work out during the work day!). They prioritize events and bring everyone together to foster the creative environment that drives the brand forward.

What I wish was different

I wish the company would guarantee return offers for successful interns. Currently, adidas does not have the ability to guarantee interns full-time positions should they do well during their internships.

Advice

BE CREATIVE, and don't be afraid to speak what's on your mind. I'm pretty introverted and struggled with this at first. But the company wants our input, as we know their target audience really well (because we are them)!

Supervisor

April 2017 • Huntington Station, NY

What I liked

The products that were sold, most of the people I worked with. I also liked how I was asked to teach and guide the associates. I was also asked to come up with creative ideas on how to improve the store which I excel in.

What I wish was different

I wish I was given more freedom to put into action some of the ideas I have. I have many ideas how to gain more customers and sales but it seems like they are not able to be done.

Advice

Get s*** done. If you can get your work done in a timely matter, you will go far. All of the people still employed are all hard workers, those who management saw as people who only gave partial effort were let go.

Brand Communications Intern

May - August 2018 • Portland, OR

What I liked

Cross-functional experience, visibility with company executives, empowered with tasks that effect the business

What I wish was different

I wish the program was more developed, so that jobs could be offered upon the summer end date.

Advice

Schedule coffee chats with various people throughout the company - not just immediate team. This not only helped me to be better at my tasks, but it shaped my company-wide perspective and understanding. It additionally provided me a sense of belonging in that I have built a diverse network within one company I'm keen on working for.

Operations and Knowledge Management Western Europe eCommerce Intern

September 2016 - February 2017 • Amsterdam, North Holland

What I liked

adidas is a GREAT company to work for! They provide you with a lot of responsibility and treat you just like any other normal employee of the company. Also, you have the opportunity to share your ideas and make an impact. Furthermore, if you love sports, then this is the perfect place for you! (They even have a personal trainer to customize your workouts!)

What I wish was different

It was great! I absolutely loved my experience! The only thing I would have liked is if they could have helped with housing accommodations.

Advice

Be a diligent worker and don't be afraid to ask questions. They like to see you challenge their current set-up in order to make improvements.

Store Operations Intern

June - August 2017 • Portland, OR

What I liked

The internship program at adidas HQ was organized so if I wasn’t working on my individual project with my manager, I was either working on a cross-functional team project, attending a fun intern event, or taking a workshop to acquire more professional skills.

What I wish was different

I wish they would’ve set us up with better housing situations. All 96 interns at adidas HQ had to find their own housing, which became kind of stressful and expensive. It would’ve been cool for the program to suggest a place where we could all live nearby each other so we could hangout outside of work.

Advice

Remember names and ask questions. Remembering names will make people like you more because you put in the effort to care about them; then when you need help later on or are feeling lonely, you have someone to turn to. Asking questions also shows interest, but also allows you to learn more about the company so you’re more informed with your peers and have a better chance of getting hired on full-time.
