I liked that I was not doing typical intern work. I was continuing the work of career engineers on research and development projects the day I showed up. I felt like my contributions matter in everything I did throughout the summer. I also liked performing design work and learning different methods and perspectives to design parts on SolidWorks. After this internship, I feel like I am a more polished engineer.
What I wish was different
More time. I enjoyed showing up to work everyday. The summer internship went by in a flash and more time to learn and grow would be the only thing I would change.
Advice
To never give up when it comes to finding a company. All it takes is one company to take a chance on you and this was the case for me as well. I struck out on getting an internship the previous summer and I didn't receive an offer for this internship until during finals week before this past summer. From that one company that took a chance on me, I've turned that into a full time job.
