Mechanical Engineering Intern
May - August 2019 • Bellevue, OH
What I liked
The people you work with will feel more like family than co-workers. The guys working in the shop are very willing to answer any questions you may have and will even let you work alongside them at times! The internship program has an opening and closing event where you can meet all the interns from across the country, while learning more about how the railroad operates.

Advice
Don’t be afraid to ask questions! There are a lot of people who have worked here for many years and are eager to pass on information. In my free time I would walk over to the locomotive shop and talk to the guys as they worked. I learned the a lot doing this and they would even let me use some of the equipment (with their help).

Mechanical Intern
May - August 2019 • Elkhart, IN
What I liked
I wide range of experiences on the railroad, working with different departments, and all of the great people I got to work with.
What I wish was different
A little more work for the interns would have been nice. I don't believe that was unique to my location, but company wide for the interns.
Advice
Have fun! Talk to people, and don't be afraid to ask questions. So many people that I worked with were proud of their work and loved explaining and teaching me things.

What I liked
I was given a lot of responsibilities in this internship and was able to make a real contribution to my department. They didn't treat you like an intern and really valued what you had to say. While the work was difficult, I never felt intimidated or scared to ask for help.
What I wish was different
They didn't have a large group of interns, and I was unable to really meet with anyone my age during the summer making my off time boring.
Advice
Always ask questions and ask for more work if you have nothing to do. Cubicles are horrible if you have nothing to do.

Cyber Security Co-Op
May - August 2018 • Atlanta, GA
What I liked
I loved the variety of different systems and cool projects I was able to help with. The security team was great and I was able to work on a help with most of the major projects while I was there.
What I wish was different
I wish I had had more time, there are so many projects and one summer just is not enough time.
Advice
If you can carpool or ride mart into the city. The Pay is competitive but parking in midtown is astronomical.
